....... to the May edition of Reel Life.
This month our big news is the launch of the Fish &Game NZ website www.fishandgame.org.nz – please take some time to have a look at the site which has been comprehensively redesigned – we would be delighted to receive all your feedback and suggestions – just email them to reellife@inbox.net.nz
Access is a crucial issue for NZ; the deadline for your chance to advocate for access is the end of August – please contact your MP as soon as possible on this issue. Our facts and guidelines are available here
There is plenty of new content on the Fish & Game site this month around the regions: Northland preview winter fishing in the region; Auckland Waikato have a round-up of fishing news including a report on the freshly stocked Lake Pupuke and a recent fishing competition held there.
Wellington reports on some great autumn fishing in several rivers, whilst the West Coast is gearing up for some exciting winter fishing.
Nelson Marlborough are delighted to report to licence holders that the free freshwater biodiversity advisory service within the region has received further funding from the government. North Canterbury has some important news about the Lake Coleridge Ryton Bay development, and about new winter fishing prospects, whilst in Southland, things are still looking good in the late autumn. You can also read the latest copy of the Southland Fly Fishing Clubs newsletter.
Fishing reports submitted by guides from around the country for May are also available on site right now – simply navigate to your region of interest from the menu on the left.
Finally, our regular columns are here; Hugh Creasy’s always delightful At the end are the rainbows lets us know what he does when he’s not fishing, and the Idle thoughts of an idle editor reflects on the pleasures of planning a fishing trip.
Enjoy Reel Life, and good fishing.
